5x times 1 equals? I’m in algebra 1 and in the 8th grade

i dont know WHY we needed to know your grade and the math you're in, but anyways,

everything times 1 is equal to the number you multiplied by 1 (original number) because of the identity property of multiplication.

so 5x times 1 is 5x...
