Jason's age is 3 times Shauna's present age. In 4 years' time, the sum of their ages will be 56 years. Find their present ages.

J = Jason
S = Shauna
You can use the equation :
(J+4)+(S+4)=56 
4s + 8 = 56
4s = 56
s = 12
J=36In 4 years Jason is 40 and Shauna is 16.
